The Rainy Day
It was the usual October rain. The kind that came suddenly, poured naggingly and left hesitatingly. The main bus stand was crowded. Everyone looked irritated as they tried to make their way through the crowd and also avoid the murky water which lay stagnant here and there. Except them.
Those two girls got off the bus with big smiles on their faces. Something really seemed to amuse them. They were listening to music from the same ipod, but with two sets of headphones. Each had an umbrella. Their heads swayed to the music, earrings jingling with the beats. They walked carefully, trying not drift away far enough to pull the headphones from the ipod, and at the same time, trying not to walk too close lest their umbrellas poke each other. This seemed to amuse them further and they laughed more.
I didn’t wonder. I knew exactly where the two sisters were headed. After all, hadn’t I been like one of them just sometime back. Now, that was just a memory. I stood alone in the bus stand, a part of the irritated crowd, caught in their routine, waiting for the transport that would take them somewhere, yet leave them right where they are.
Always be that one of the girls. Dont grow up. It is not worth it!!!
