One year!

It's been an year of marriage and well..and I must say, I am pleasantly surprised. I dunno what I expected, but this is actually very different.. and it's a very good kinda different!

One of the major things of our relationship is the fact that we jumped right from friendship to marriage. While I, at least, got the chance to be in love with this human for a couple of years, he just decided one fine day that if he had to get married, I was his best option. And well, I said Yes in a very composed manner, but inside I was like

So we didn't really have a "I'd die without you" kinda story. It was more of a "Life would be easier with you than with anyone else".

Another thing was we didn't really know what would change after marriage. We stayed just a few houses away, we worked together. We knew each other's families quite well, hell, we had even seen each other in our ugliest house clothes!
But even then, marriage felt so new! It wasn't an overnight thing, but looking back, the relationship is very different when you are actually married!

I have always been quite the reader and had lofty ideas of Knight in Shining Armour and all that. Of course, those had begun to fade a bunch of years back when I realised I made a terrible Damsel in Distress. But you know, dregs of that still sorta stick around.

When I said yes to Kartik I knew right then that none of that is gonna happen! I mean, you don't go from "You ugly/you dumb" to "You look so beautiful tonight" unless you are in a bad rom-com.
But then again, Kartik wasn't the hero I needed, he was the hero I deserved. The Knight Who Would Get Up to Switch the Lights Off, The Knight Who Remembers Obscure Stories I Tell, The Knight Who Surprises Me With A Clean Bed.

And while the expression of love might not be with a bunch of roses, it is even better when it is with cold Rose Milk and a warm hug!

Probably the best thing is that we both realize that Spouse here mainly stands for Best Friend, Great Listener and Bad Joke Cracker, with just a pinch of Lover and a dash of House Elf!
Being married is pretty much like having your favorite mind voice in human form!

So, even when he'd much rather edit his videos and I'd much rather read up on Targaryen history, we would always wanna do it side by side!

And though the "Husband" word is still super weird, 'Married' is quite a great place to be!
