Diary Entries
She was really amused by what she was reading. Seriously, who wrote in their diaries when they downloaded a new picture from the net?? God!!
She continued reading. Here and there, there were tiny notes which had been added later and she often had to tilt the book to read these. The handwriting was hard to decipher and it irritated her at times, but then, well, she wasn’t supposed to be reading these like this. She completely forgot her surroundings as she read further, book after book. She noticed changes. Changes in the handwriting, the way she wrote, changes in her personality and perspective. Extra details had also been added (time, day and place instead of just the date). She glanced around furtively now and then to see if anyone was around, but, at this time of the day, no one bothered her. By now, she was reading the diaries of a fully fledged teenager and not a 12 year old. It was very easy for her to relate, but visualizing was difficult. Only one face was clear in her head and at present it was the only connection she had with those books.
The sky outside was turning dark. The time was 5, a supposedly good movie was on now. She put on the TV and turned it to mute and continued reading. The entries were fewer now, and details were very less. Now that she had read so much, she knew the reason. She opened the final book, a really colorful one. The first entry had all the details about the writer summarized so that “someday, I’ll have fun reading how I was and how life was on this day!!!” She smiled. If only she had had any idea…..
The entries continued, more regular than in the last book and with more details. The handwriting was getting steadily worse, but she was getting used to it. Then suddenly, abruptly, it stopped. The last entry was dated December 6th. Time: 10:15. Place: My Class. The entry began “I don’t believe this. Wow. OMG. It just won’t sink in..!!!!!!! I have been grinning like an idiot. Wait, Sir has come,… will write in sometime”
It nagged her inside. What had happened? The entry before had been blah, bland, boring. And this one was in dire contrast. She racked her brains, trying to remember what had happened. But hadn’t she been trying that for quite some time? She didn’t remember anything before the hospital. Not even the accident.
After reading her diaries she realized one thing. She had been quite accident prone from the start………..
