A Millennial's Pregnancy Journey: The Prologue

Everything in my life has always happened on time.

This is not me bragging about my punctuality, rather, it's me bragging about my luck.

When I finished 12th, even before the results, I had my college admission in hand, I finished UG and jumped straight into my pre-planned PG course, and the day after I started getting serious about job hunting, I attended the interview at the firm where I would work for 7 years and counting!

Marriage too happened that way. My parents and I (both reluctantly) decided to get into the boy-hunting hassle post Year 26, but luckily for me, the one I had been eyeing proposed marriage 4 days after my 25th birthday!

Kartik and I have share similar values and ideas. That was one of the main reasons why we decided to get married. When it came to babies too, we thought alike. Neither of us really melted over babies, but we both knew we wanted to raise a kid one day.

As my 28th birthday approached, I decided that it was time to take the next step. For the first time, when someone told me they were pregnant, I was excited for them instead of being freaked out. That was quite a big indicator. Also, I wanted to be a mom before 30 anyway!

It took some discussion and convincing, and finally Boy was on board too. The plan was in place.

And "plan" is the word on which this entire story hinges.

However much we like to think we are spontaneous "free spirits", Boy and I are planners. We like  itineraries, we are a sucker for a good Excel sheet, and infographics are a special kind of love! Obviously, pregnancy wasn't something we were gonna dive head first in.

So we sat down and spoke about how things would change, ran through our finances, met the gynecologist to ask about pre-preps if any and I even said "2020, it's got a nice ring to it".

Me and my big mouth.
