A Millennial's Pregnancy Journey: Lockdown and Late Periods
March dawned nice and bright.
And remained like that for barely a week before things started going downhill!
We had a situation at work that left us in a tizzy. While handling that, we were also rushing to meet our year end targets, and just before year end, lockdown happened!
In that first relatively stress-free week, we visited the gynec to show the reports of the mandatory blood/urine tests I had to take. She put me on folic acid and told us to have fun! If nothing happens in 6 months, we will talk, she said.
When lockdown was declared, it was like we suddenly came to a screeching halt. We had been working hard and "partying" hard and suddenly we had all this free time and it felt like a mini vacation. Of course, we didn't know then how big a deal this Corona was going to turn out to be.
It was during that time that I declared to Kartik that my period was a day late. I know a day late isn't a big deal, but my cycles are like the famed Japanese trains -- always on time!
He shrugged it off.
Two days later, I got out the big guns -- the stats in my period tracker app. I had never been this late in 3 years.
That spurred him into action and Kartik came home with 5 pregnancy test kits. *Rolling eyes*
One pee later, there were two pink lines!
I think one of the most unrealistic movie tropes is when the wife surprises her husband with the news of pregnancy. How can you keep it to yourself for long enough to buy a poster/decorate a room (with the ultrasound pic!!)/ create some weird stone art thingie.. you get it.. I
I was talking from the bathroom!
Anyway, we then told our family, Kartik tried to make me use all those 5 tests, my mom persuaded me to spend a week at their place, I squealed about this with my girls...
But me and Kartik still didn't really fully come to the realization of what this meant.
Awww..
